Unconditional Surrender | San Diego, CA

You might recognize this statue – it was made to resemble the famous photograph V-J Day in Times Square, otherwise known as The Kiss.
“Unconditional Surrender” is a 25-foot bronze sculpture that resides on the Port of San Diego waterfront next to the USS Midway Museum. It made its first appearance in San Diego in 2007 but this past weekend was the first time I’d taken the time to photograph it. (Its been on my very long list of to-dos).
I’ve always loved “The Kiss” photograph, and though some critics thought the sculpture controversial (I’m not sure why…but there’s always a complainer, right?), I think it is pretty cool! I did marry a sailor, after all… ;-)
