Red Rock Crossing | Sedona, AZ | Take 1

One of my favorite places to photograph while I was in Sedona (also one of the most photographed sights in the southwest) was Red Rock Crossing, also known as the Crescent Moon Picnic Site. It is the perfect spot to capture the majestic Cathedral Rock with Oak Creek in the foreground. I was able to visit this area twice – on VERY different days.

My first visit was a lovely, warm, sunny day and there were a lot of others who were also enjoying the beautiful weather. It made for great photos…when you could manage to capture a scene WITHOUT a tourist in it. So very frustrating! Ah well…I can’t blame others for also enjoying this beautiful spot.

On my second visit I practically had the place to myself. The weather had turned stormy and was threatening rain. I got some great shots that day, but I’ll save those for another post. 😉
