Castelmola & Etna | Sicily | Italy
I captured this photo on a girls trip to Castelmola in December of 2009, almost five years ago. (Wow…I can’t believe its been that long!) This was definitely my favorite shot of that trip and still one of my best shots of Mt. Etna – Sicily’s very active volcano.
If you’ve never been to Castelmola (or heard of it) check out my original post on my old blog. There are some interesting things about this tiny hilltop town (warning: mildly NSFW).
I did a bit of reprocessing on this image before sharing it today – lens correction in Lightroom and then a sepia makeover using Macphun’s Tonality. I tried hard to maintain a similar “feel” to my original edit, but cleaned up some of the blown highlights, opened up some of the shadows, and added a bit of clarity and sharpening. I think the resulting image is much stronger.
