Aurora HDR 2017 is coming

Aurora HDR 2017 is coming, folks – and it is awesome!

I’ve had the privilege of playing with the pre-release and watching a live pre-release webinar with Trey Ratcliff a couple of days ago. I’m blown away by some of the new features in Aurora HDR 2017.

One of Aurora HDR 2017’s new features is faster performance, so I thought I’d do a little test of my own.  I happen to be traveling with an Early 2014 11″ Macbook Air which barely meets Aurora’s minimum system requirements. I loaded up the pre-release and got to work. The results? The original version of Aurora HDR Pro doesn’t run this fast on my newer, faster, beefier Macbook Pro that I have at home!

The photo I worked on was a single exposure sunrise photo captured a couple of days ago in Pismo Beach. I started with one of Trey Ratcliff’s presets and then played with the sliders to make it my own. I really LOVE how it turned out. Macphun has hit a home run with this upgrade.

The new version is chock full of new tools and capabilities. Its faster and more powerful and works amazingly well on both single shots or multiple exposures. My favorite new features? The Zone System Luminosity Masks & Polarize Filter. The Polarize Filter came in handy on the photo above to bring out the beautiful blue in the sky.

Key Features:

  • NEW Polarize Filter
  • NEW Powerful Zone System for Luminosity Masks
  • NEW Defringing Tool to Remove Chromatic Aberration
  • NEW Batch Processing
  • NEW Radial Masking
  • IMPROVED Tone Mapping Technology with Reduced HDR noise, improved realism of initial result, and faster performance
  • IMPROVED User Interface with a cleaner, more modern style

Hi Angela, I tried the upgrade path for my Aurora HDR Pro with the serial number, but it only offered the $89 upgrade option instead of the $49. Can this be fixed? BTW, I got to pin on my son’s LCDR insignia a few weeks ago. Mike

      Hi Michael,
Sorry you are having issues with the upgrade!! I saw a comment from someone else on FB who was having the same issue with the upgrade (not associated with one of my links). I’ll email my contact at Macphun now and get it sorted out for you.
I saw the photo on FB of you pinning your son. What an honor and special moment for you both to share!!
I’ll be in touch when I have more info for you.
      Cheers! Ang
