Smithfield’s Victorian Mansions

Strolling down the streets of historic Smithfield, Virginia I spy…beautiful Victorian mansions!

These ornate homes are one of the many things I love about Smithfield. Some of the Victorian mansions are impeccably maintained and restored while others show the wear and tear of many years. Many of these structures are well over 100 years old!

The photos below were captured back in April before the weather got too hot. There were a few clouds in the sky and a slight breeze which made a stroll around town with my camera in hand quite pleasant.

The photos below are 3-frame HDRs shot handheld with my Canon 6D and 16-35mm f/4L Lens.

Smithfield has quickly become one of my favorite Hampton Roads day trips. Between the beautiful Victorian mansions, good restaurants, and charming shops, I can’t wait to go back. I think it would be a great location for a photowalk – perhaps the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk or 500px Global Photo Walk? Both are usually in September, but the dates haven’t been announced yet. What do you think?
